Once Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallaho Anho), amid his caliphate, was going on his standard rounds towards Harrah (a suburb of Madinah) with his slave Aslam, when he saw a far off flame in the desert. He stated, "There is by all accounts a camp. Maybe, it is a band that couldn't enter the town because of sunset. We should go and care for them and orchestrate their security amid the night."
When he came to there, he found a lady and a few kids. The kids were crying. The lady had a dish of water over the fire. Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallaho Anho) welcomed her with salaam and, with her authorization, went close to her. (The lady didn't perceive that it was Umar).
Umar, "For what reason are these youngsters crying?"
The Woman, "Since they are ravenous."
Umar, "What is in the container?"
The Woman, "Just water to calm the kids, so they may rest in the conviction that nourishment is being set up for them. Ok! Allah will make a decision as to Umar (Radhiyallaho Anho) and me, on the Day of Judgment, for disregarding me in my pain."
Umar (sobbing), "May Allah show kindness toward you! In what capacity can Umar know about your pain?"
The Woman, "When he is our Amir, he should keep himself educated about us."
Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallaho Anho) came back to the town and straight away went to the Baitul Mal (House of Charity) to fill a sack with flour, dates, fat, and garments, and furthermore drew some cash. At the point when the sack was prepared, he said to Aslam, "Presently put this sack on my back, Aslam."
Aslam, "No it would be ideal if you Amir-ul-Momineen! I will convey this sack."
Umar declined to tune in to Aslam, even on his diligent solicitations to enable him to convey the sack, and commented, "What! Will you convey my heap on the Day of Judgment? I should convey this sack, for it is I who might be addressed (in the Hereafter) about this lady."
Aslam most reluctantly put the sack on Umar's (Radhiyallaho Anho) back, who conveyed it with a quick pace appropriate to the lady's tent. Aslam pursued at his heels. He put a little flour and a few dates and fat in the dish and started to mix. He blew (with his mouth) into the fire to fuel it.
Aslam says, "I saw the smoke going through his thick whiskers."
After some time, the pottage was prepared. He himself served it to the family. When they had eaten to their fill, he made over to them the little that was left for their next supper. The kids were exceptionally upbeat after their supper and started to play about cheerfully.
The lady felt exceptionally thankful and commented, "May Allah compensate you for your consideration! Indeed you have the right to replace Khalifah rather than Umar."
Umar comforted her and stated, "When you come to see the Khalifah, you will discover me there."
He sat for some time at a place close by and continued viewing the youngsters. He at that point came back to Madinah. On his way back, he said to Aslam, "Do you know why I sat there, Aslam? I had seen them sobbing in trouble. I jumped at the chance to see them snickering and upbeat for quite a while.
